Silfra is one of the most popular places for diving in Iceland and in the crack at the same time you touch and the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates.

If you want to tangle between two continents, Silfra is one of the few places where it is possible and is real evidence that the Earth hides incredible beauty.

This crack in the sea separating the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates which are separated from one another at a speed of 2 cm per year and every 10 years, causing earthquakes.

Therefore, the crack for many divers is a spectacle that lets you tap two different continents, while cold crystal blue water allows a spectacular view because visibility is almost 100 meters in every direction.

Crystal clear waters is because of nearby Langjekidl glacier, which naturally filters the water. Seasonal melting of ice passes through porous rocks and thus additionally filtered. It takes several decades for the water to come to the crack.
